Our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver's Message on the IKU Agenda - XLIII

Istanbul Kultur University (IKU) Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver published a message regarding the changing IKU agenda with the New Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Dear Kültür Family,

Although we could not completely defeat the Covid-19 virus that we faced in March 2020, we learned to live with this reality. The pandemic continues as a risk, so is the presence of measures in our lives. However, we are all more controlled, more conscious and most importantly more experienced than in the first periods when we tried to cope with the stress of the unknown. Our experience in uncertainty, risk and crisis management is perhaps our most important achievement in this period.

Dear Colleagues,

Last week, on Wednesday, September 22, we were together as the Kültür Family at the opening ceremony of the new academic year. In the same week, we had the opportunity to closely follow the club promotion programs and orientation activities organized with the participation of our students in our campus. I found that returning to the campus was especially pleasing for the students. A good start is extremely important and promising for the future. But the important thing is to continue. At this point, I kindly request all my colleagues to meticulously comply with the health and safety measures in the campus.

Dear Kültür Family,

This is a transitional period. It is our priority to carry out face-to-face education and office work in the most healthy way. We apply the procedures of official institutions without exception and will continue to do so. Due to the measures, various comments will come from our students and families from time to time. It is necessary to establish healthy communication in this regard, to increase the awareness of our students, and to manage the process patiently. We must maintain communication with our students who cannot enter the campus due to vaccination and PCR controls, and therefore their attendance is disrupted. We should support young people to continue their education processes, even from a distance. I would like to request the full support of all my colleagues working in the academic-administrative staff in order to listen to the questions of our students, to get their opinions, and to hear their needs and expectations, so that the normalization steps can be taken in a healthy way, and most importantly, for its continuity.

Dear Kültür Family,

September 26, 2021, is the 62nd anniversary of Kültür College, which laid the foundations of our founding basis. The expression "In the Service of Students", which is the founding message of Kültür College, is much more meaningful in this period. I wish Kultur College, which inspires our university with its values, to prepare many generations for the future with success and health. We hope that we can hold our anniversary celebration, which we had to postpone due to the pandemic, as soon as possible under the best conditions.

By 2022, we will step into the 25th year of our university. We wrote the story of Kültür in higher education together. The ideas, projects and suggestions of all my colleagues who contributed to this journey are very important for our 25th anniversary. I believe that all my friends who work in academic and administrative staff and who work for Kültür will crown this meaningful history with their ideas.

Dear Kültür Family,

Our university started the new academic year with invaluable national and international collaborations. We will continue to work to make a difference for our students, graduates and staff. Our Technology and Project Support Unit continues to work with a very young team that keeps the pulse of the time. Our European Career Workforce Unit held its first introductory meeting on Thursday, September 23, 2021 with international participation.

At the meeting held with the participation of Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife ÖZTÜRK AKKARTAL, Dean of our Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Bahri ÖZTÜRK, Rector of the German Academy of Management in Lower Saxony, Mr. Harald BECKER, Dr. Yerlikaya-Manzel & Dr. Manzel Law Firm Partner Dr. Martin MANZEL and the academic staff of our university, the scope of the protocol we signed with the German Management Academy regarding the Germany Career and Workforce program was presented. I believe that the study will bring invaluable benefits to our students and will set an example in the field of higher education; I wish you success.

Dear Kültür Family,

During the past year and a half, I have tried to share important topics for our university with you at regular intervals. Your comments on the messages I conveyed were very meaningful to me. Thank you once again for your contribution. I wish you a healthy, successful and happy academic year, where we can always share good news face to face, and feel deeply the sense of meaning of being an educator.

Sincerely
Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver
Chairperson of the Board of Trustees
