Back To Campuses Guide

The purpose of this Guide is to share the public instructions, policies and guidelines that will help minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection when planning a gradual return to campuses at Istanbul Kültür University.

T.R. Citizen Students,

  • Entrances to the campuses will be made with corporate identity cards paired with HES Code.
  • Before you enter the campus as a student or staff, make sure that you match your corporate identity card with the HES Code.
  • You can make your IKU Corporate Card's HES Code matching transactions at hes.iku.edu.tr/login.
  • Students and staff who need a PCR test for any reason must have a NEGATIVE PCR result before they enter the campus and dormitories.

ABOUT PCR

*PCR test processes must be carried out in a way that does not interfere with the flow of business and training activities.

Non-Turkish Citizen Students,

Our students who are not Turkish citizens are required to integrate 2 doses of vaccine into the HES system. Students who have received their second dose of vaccination and who have passed at least 14 days can enter the campuses. Otherwise, a PCR test is required every 48 hours in order to enter the campuses.

If you have two doses of vaccine and you are having trouble entering, inform the International Relations Office (yob@iku.edu.tr) for the temporary certificate you will use until your vaccines are integrated into the system.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, you can make an appointment at the hospitals after you complete your official registration and get the student registration document with the ID number starting with 98 from the student affairs office.

Classrooms and Study Halls

  • Courses should be held with as few people as possible. Block classes should not be held, and the environment should be ventilated by giving a break of at least 10 minutes depending on the size of the hall.
  • Capacity planning should be done in the study halls and classrooms, and crowded group work should be avoided. The seating arrangement should be such that the physical distance is at least 1 meter. However, depending on the nature of the course, it would be more appropriate to apply the physical distance regulation to be at least 1.5-2 meters in cases where the students also have activities such as speaking loudly and singing.
  • Large halls should be preferred instead of small classrooms for loud activities such as singing, choir work, and theater rehearsals due to the droplet formation.
  • Educational materials to be used by students during the course should be as personal as possible.
  • Classrooms should be regularly ventilated by opening windows. Air conditioner and ventilator should be turned off when people are inside as much as possible, as this may cause the spread of droplets.
  • Informational materials such as banners, posters, etc. for protection and precautions should be placed in appropriate places.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the cleaning of areas that are in contact with more than one person, such as the table surface and door handle.
  • Visual materials with warnings indicating the maximum student capacity of that classroom should be placed at the entrance of the classroom, and the seating arrangement and distances should be pre-arranged.

While it is possible to arrange physical distance of at least 1 meter in classes, exams/practical exams, laboratories and classrooms where students will not interact loudly with each other, the physical distance should be arranged to be at least 1.5-2 meters if possible, especially in activities such as speaking loudly and debating.
