YÖK announced that final exams at universities and other exams for this academic year will not be held face to face.
The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has sent a letter on the subject “COVID-19 Measures” to universities.
In the article, the following statements in the letter of the Ministry of Health addressed to YÖK on the subject of "COVID-19 Precautions" dated 11 May 2020:
“It is seen that situations such as intercity mass student movements, gathering students from different settlements, re-activating student dormitories and not being able to comply with social distance in exam environments will pose an inevitable risk in the pandemic struggle that we are controlling. The 2019-2020 school year must be completed without any such risks. It is important that distance education and other exams belonging to this academic year are carried out online or through alternative assessment-evaluation methods, in parallel with the decisions taken by the Higher Education Council in the formal education programs.

In the article of YÖK, it was emphasized that the developments in COVID-19 global outbreak, especially in the field of higher education, have been followed closely by the Higher Education Council since its inception.

“As the Higher Education Council, the two points that we emphasize in all these processes are that the exams should be transparent and auditable, and that they should be student-centered, taking into account the students' physical and mental health. Based on the sensitivity of the issue, at the meeting of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 11.05.2020, the demand and epidemic process of the Ministry of Health related to the subject in the letter of interest was evaluated. It was decided not to perform face-to-face exams and other exams for this academic year, but to do these exams by applying alternative methods such as homework and projects to be preferred by the university's authorized boards. ”
